The QSC CAES4 is an AES‑3 digital input/output expansion card designed for the Q‑SYS ecosystem. It delivers 4 channels of AES‑3 input and output, enabling seamless integration between Q‑SYS and external digital audio devices such as consoles, recorders, or playback systems.
As a Type 2 hardware card, the CAES4 uses updated connectors and cabling to interoperate with newer Q‑SYS Cores and I/O Frames—note it is not physically compatible with older Type 1 modules. Each channel offers flexible input sensitivity, output trim, and infinite digital mute, all configurable in software, with transparent signal handling across 20 Hz to 20 kHz (±0.007 dB typical)
This module supports source-level settings up to +27 dBu and features low latency conversion (e.g. 2.96 ms at 48 kHz). With 110 Ω balanced input impedance and robust design, the CAES4 ensures reliable digital audio interfacing in demanding professional installations.
The CAES4 is ideal for installations requiring digital audio bridging—such as broadcast, houses of worship, theatres, and fixed commercial AV systems—where preserving signal integrity and leveraging the digital domain are priorities.
